CASPR: Category-Specific RSS

In cased you missed it, this site now sports CASPR [1].  Other than "All Posts," each feed URL under the "Feeds" list can be used to get blogs only on that topic.  It's similar to blog aggregator that offer feeds for the individual bloggers.  Now there's a name for it.

Like my other queued initiatives, a generally available CASPR add-on for blogs could be a shiny new hobby project.  If only my 24 hours weren't so endless and impossible to fill.

Currently, there's only one category getting its own feed ("Eclipse-only").  Others will be added as makes sense.

Luis wrote the Ruby script to read in a one-size-fits-all <main_feed>.rdf file, filter out all but a select category, and then deposit the much svelter <filtered>.rss file (eclipse.rss in this case).  My CASPR is currently hosted by TextDrive where eclipse.rss is updated hourly with a cron job.  This part could be made instantaneous.

Now Eclipse Planet readers won't be hassled by my rendition of the perfect place to live or how to make an alcoholic cold remedy with Airborne (check it out, btw; it's good stuff when you're knocked low by a virus).

I'm curious to know if there's any other CASPR implementations floating freely.  I couldn't see that FeedDemon offered it.  Perhaps I was missing something.  If this is something people think they need, write me (or Luis).  With sadistic pleasure, we just might try to sqeeze a 25th hour from life's turnip and make something freely available.
